Every autumn, influenza starts circulating again across South-East Queensland. Getting your flu shot early is the single best thing you can do to protect yourself, your family, and vulnerable members of our community.

Who qualifies for a free flu vaccine?

Under the National Immunisation Program, free flu vaccines are available for children aged 6 months to 5 years, adults 65 and over, pregnant women at any stage, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from 6 months onwards, and anyone living with a chronic health condition.

How to book

Book online via HotDoc or call (07) 5541 1011. We also run walk-in nurse clinics on selected weekdays during peak flu season — phone reception for the current schedule. Bring your Medicare card and any previous vaccination records.

What to expect on the day

A flu shot takes only a few minutes. Our nurse will review your history, administer the injection into your upper arm, and ask you to wait 15 minutes for post-vaccination monitoring. Most people feel completely normal afterwards — mild arm soreness is the most common side effect.
