Why every Queenslander needs an annual skin check

Two in three Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer before the age of 70. In Beaudesert and the wider Scenic Rim, our combination of long summers, outdoor work and rural lifestyle means that risk is even higher than the national average.

What we check for

During a whole-body skin check, we examine every mole, freckle and lesion using computerised dermatoscopy. We are looking for the three main types of skin cancer: basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma — the most serious form.

The ABCDE rule

Between visits, keep an eye out for any spot that shows Asymmetry, Border irregularity, Colour variation, Diameter over 6mm, or Evolution (changing over weeks or months). If in doubt — book in.
